ABSTRACT

One of the principal aims of nanotechnology fabrication is the high-yield assembly of complex functional structures with atomic precision, ideally through an atomby-atom or molecule-by-molecule assembly procedure. To achieve this task, a technology characterized by sub-nanometer manipulation precision, single-molecule handling ability, ±exibility and adaptability to different molecular species in various environmental conditions, capability to achieve the building of complex structures and high throughput is requested. Unfortunately, none of the available current technologies has demonstrated all the requested abilities at the same time so far.
