ABSTRACT

The operating system and applications in a physical server have exclusive access to all of the CPU, memory, network I/O and disk I/O resources. As long as the OS and applications don't attempt to utilize more resources than the system has there shouldn't be any performance issues on that system.

The same is true for an ESX 3.5 server. As long as the total aggregate CPU, memory, network I/O and disk I/O utilization of all the VMs running on that server do not exceed its capacity then there shouldn't be any performance issues on that ESX 3.5 server.
