ABSTRACT

Nicotine (methylpyridylpyrrolidine) is one of the most toxic and rapidly acting poisons. It was once widely used as a horticultural insecticide in vapor or spray form. Although it occurs naturally in tobacco products, it is also available as a colorless, volatile, and strongly alkaline liquid. Nicotine is a water-soluble liquid alka loid. Initially, the solution is clear but turns a brown color on contact with air, closely resembling whiskey in appearance ( 1).
