ABSTRACT

I. Introduction At the time of the arrival of the lung transplant patient at the intensive care unit (ICU), the primary goal of the ICU team is to obtain full information about the patients particular history, the procedure performed, eventual specific problems, and most importantly about the patients current status with regard to circulation and oxygenation (1,2). On the basis of these parameters, further treatment can be planned and important decisions about the timing and length of the weaning process can be taken.
