ABSTRACT
Because biopharmaceutical products are derived from living organisms, it is necessary to contain the biologically active agents that form the product in order to protect employees, the product, and the environment. Modern biological containment practice accomplishes this protection through programs involving special facility design, monitoring, and validation.
