ABSTRACT

With a vast majority of synthetic reactions performed within research laboratories centering on liquid-phase reaction conditions, due to the ease of operation and availability of equipment, it is not surprising that this area of continuous ow chemistry has received signi cant interest from researchers over the past 15 years. With this in mind for ease of use, the following chapter has been split into classes of reaction (Sections 3.1 through 3.8), walking those new to the eld through developments made and directing those actively researching ow chemistry to reactions of particular interest. The chapter then concludes with a discussion of multistep/multicomponent reactions (Section 3.9), all of which have been selected to demonstrate the ability to perform complex and synthetically challenging reactions within liquid-phase ow reactors.
