ABSTRACT

As the risk model takes shape, variables that contribute to the solution of the problem will be added. Names for these variables should be agreed upon and the names recorded on some type of movable object such as a large Post-it piece of paper or a magnetic octagon (the type used in systems-thinking exercises). These namebearing objects should have on them sufficient room for recording of the name and some additional information. Post-it notes are relatively inexpensive and can be stuck on a vertical board for viewing and arranging. These arranged items can comprise a contributing factor diagram (CFD). An example of a CFD is shown in Figure 8.1.
