ABSTRACT

Introduction Doing enterprise architecture is not simple or easy, any more than managing an enterprise is simple or easy. Choosing among the various ideas, conceptualizations, theories, models, methods, and practices of EA is complex and demanding; and deciding how to best organize, staff, govern, or start an EA program in your enterprise is similarly difficult. This is particularly true since we are still “early in the game” and have little data by which to judge and evaluate different approaches. Chapters 2, 3, and 4 aim to help you with these decisions-the first addresses the theoretical and conceptual matters of EA, the second addresses the practice-oriented ones, and the third provides data on the current state of EA practices and perceptions.
