ABSTRACT

Introduction Doing enterprise architecture is not simple or easy, any more than managing an enterprise is simple or easy. This should come as no surprise in light of our journey in Chapter 2 through EA theory and concepts, and the fact that enterprises are “the most complex object the human mind has conceived of and created thus far,” as John Zachman opines in the EA pioneer panel article in Chapter 1. The human element adds to the difficulty, complexity, and uncertainty of EA practice within an organization, as Anna Sidorova and Leon Kappelman remind us in their “Enterprise Architecture as Politics” article in Chapter 2.
