ABSTRACT
This well-known remark expresses the fact that statistical modelling is a compromise: a compromise between reliability and informativeness; a compromise between goodness of t, adequacy of hypotheses on the one hand and, on the other, relevance and intelligibility of results (in particular, to the eyes of a non-statistician).
