ABSTRACT

The primary purpose of an adjustment computation is to ensure that all observations are used to find the most probable values for the unknowns in the model. A combination of stochastic and functional models results in a mathematical model for the adjustment. The determination of variances and subsequently the weights of the observations are known as the stochastic model. A functional model in adjustment computations is an equation or set of equations that represents or defines an adjustment condition (Ghilani and Wolf, 2006).
