ABSTRACT

Hearing Hearing is an important sense for the use of many displays. For example, last week I needed to set an unfamiliar alarm clock in a hotel room. I needed hearing acuity in connection with vision to determine whether I sufficiently pressed the buttons to change the time, because they responded with electronic beeps but little physical movement. When setting the alarm level, it was my ear that let me know when to stop turning the volume knob. Using the alarm’s radio setting required a sensitive ear to tune in a channel via an analog dial.
