ABSTRACT

Business processes can be rapidly changed to meet the change in business requirements involving zero or minimal changes to the application(s) code. The information technology system code in the architectural style no longer has the potential to evolve independently of the business process nor does the business process evolve separately from the system. Process-centric architecture (PCA) enables better management of business processes by allowing the managers to take an overall process view that clearly conveys to them how well a process is doing. PCA, therefore, leverages all the reuse benefits brought by services such as the reuse, interoperability, and utilization of existing system assets. PCA plays an important contributing role to the business process management exercises in the enterprise. A typical enterprise can go through efforts related to mergers and acquisitions where multiple enterprises join to become one. In PCA, the business process underlying the system is made explicit and is formally specified.
