ABSTRACT

Provision to patients of bedding that facilitates rollovcrs will promote their rollover actions to ensure their improved physical functions and self-reliant way of life. There arc also reports that the ease of rollovers contributes to improved quality of sleep and sleep comfort. With good sleep prone to be disturbed in today's society, it will be of great importance for not only those patients but also ordinary people to be provided with bedding conducive to easier rollovcrs. As Buckle and Fernandes (1998) point out, however, little or no literature surprisingly exists in the field of ergonomic study of mattresses exemplified by that of human-mattress interface.
