ABSTRACT
Many of the exercises in this book are formulated as problems that can be solved in R. This appendix is intended to provide readers unfamiliar with R enough of a background to work on these exercises, but is by no means a comprehensive account of R or on how to write elegant and correct scripts using R. Consider this a task for the next ten years.
