ABSTRACT

In previous chapters, we discussed various image and video processing operations in the compressed domain such as filtering, color processing, resizing, and transcoding. These techniques and their variants are applied also in various other applications of analysis of images and videos in the compressed domain. They include video editing tasks such as document processing, caption localization, shot detection, etc. There are also different methods of indexing videos using features computed from the block DCT and the DWT space. Image and video digital watermarking and steganography in the compressed domain are also a major topic of research in the area of multimedia security. In this chapter, we review some of the representative approaches to compressed domain analysis of images and videos.
