ABSTRACT
Robustness is a nontrivial biological phenomenon difficult to study using pure reductionist approach (see Chapter 1): it would be very naive to think that robustness is assured by a few selected elements of the system (however, it can happen in some special cases such as mechanisms of protein refolding). By contrast, robustness is rather frequently distributed everywhere in the system, guaranteed by the whole system organisation and cooperation between its various parts.
