ABSTRACT

Projects presume the appearance of an atypical structure within the organization’s operations, and they integrate multidisciplinary resources that perform work in roles that can be very different from those associated with their primary position in the organization. The success of any project, which is normally understood to mean meeting the expectations of stakeholders, relies on the project definition to identify the products to be delivered as a result of the project effort. Project deliverables can be products and services that are designed and developed for presentation to the relevant customer as each is achieved. Information related to customer needs and interests is a vital part of the project definition. This element allows us to understand the underlying motivation and reasoning used by the customer to pursue a particular project. The business case is a business document that is derived from the elements of the project definition to represent the business needs and interests of the performing organization.
