ABSTRACT
ABSTRACT: This paper presents an overview of different web-based integration technologies for e-business solutions. Focus is on supply chain integration and related areas such as integrated application and integration of different enterprise information systems. The web-based integration technologies discussed are Business-to-Business (B2B) and Enterprise Application Integration (EAI).Advantages and disadvantages of these web-based integration technologies are discussed and reviewed from a business perspective. The conclusion is that all contributions are important to make an effective enterprise solution. Unfortunately, today, none of these two web-based technologies fully supports the enterprise integration needs, but further research is needed on EAI interfaces, which contains adapters for automatic mapping. Furthermore, these adapters need to be able to handle the different session’s state across different types of asynchronous or synchronous systems running batch and online processing environments, based on industry standards.
