Product lifecycle management: State-of-the-art, trends and challenges

ABSTRACT: It is the IMS-NoE Special Interest Group (SIG) 1 community’s belief that PLM will be one of the key organisational and technological enablers for the sustainable and competitive manufacturing of developed countries in the near future. The IMS-NoE SIG1 contribution introduces the PLM concept. In this contribution, the state-of-the-art of PLM is reported, while trends and gaps are identified. A definition of a roadmap for PLM application, defined by the SIG1 community, is also reported.
