ABSTRACT

SHORINJI-KEMPO (World Shorinji Kempo Organization) is a self-defense art using the vital spots of the body and it is possible even for a physically weaker person or female to knock down their opponent. The techniques of SHORINJI-KEMPO are divided into three categories: GOHO, JUHO, and SEIHO. For example, GOHO (hard-part) refers to attacks like kicks, punches, strikes and blows, and their defenses. SHORINJI-KEMPO is an effective application of the principles of the skeletal, biological, physical rules of the human body. For these reasons it is not just the learning of self-defense techniques, but also a very effective way of increasing health through lifelong exercise, therefore the aim of everyday practices is to achieve physical and mental improvement. Generally, the sensuous coaching based on the experience is preformed for the GOHO technique because the actual human movements in the punching motion are obviously complicated. If the quantitative description of human movements in punching motion is taken into account, it is presumable that the physical and mental improvement is easily achieved in everyday practices.
