ABSTRACT

Alternative transportation systems gain importance for metropolis in the course of car free strategies for city centers and emission discussions (Jung 2006). Cycling is one of the most appropriate ways of locomotion in terms of efficiency, health and ecology (Prampero, 1986). In a feasibility study it is being tried to encounter a new concept of inner-city traffic systems, pushing the potentials of human powered vehicles . VeloVent is one possible system. The idea is to run human powered vehicles, that are bicycles and three or four wheel vehicles, in a network of tubes with transparent covers, supporting them by airflow in the direction of movement to minimize the air resistance (Müller, 2006).
