ABSTRACT

One of the most frequent causes of things going wrong is either not having a dened procedure to follow or following an obsolete procedure or outdated specication. One of the most difcult processes to harness is document control. An operation that has been functioning for many years will denitely have many different versions of requirements, specications, and/or operating procedures that are referenced by associates. Additionally, associates may use operating procedures based on their memories and how it has always been done. A system for identifying the documents, including current versions and distribution locations, must be created. This can be accomplished through a formalized purchased document control software program or developed using basic ofce software programs. The latter will work; however, a formalized program can absolutely save time and provide an efcient method that does not require extra people to manually manage the process. The choice becomes a management resource issue which will be discussed more in detail.
