ABSTRACT
It is imperative that associates understand their roles in meeting the food safety and quality policy statement and measurable objectives of the management system. Generally this occurs through communication of the policy statement, what it actually means to the company, and what roles associates play in achieving success. Providing a work environment that ensures the production of a safe product, achieving conformity of the product, keeping good records, and communicating the management system requirements throughout all levels of the operation are key to an effective management system (Chapter 3).
