V˙/Q˙ ratios? When the pulmonary blood from lung units of varying V˙/Q˙ ratios mixes, the blood from areas of high V˙/Q˙ cannot compensate for the blood from areas of low V˙/Q˙ because it is the oxygen content of blood from the different areas that is mixed, not the partial pressures.
