● superfi cial somatic pain (skin) – well-localised, sharp pain ● deep somatic pain (ligaments, tendons, muscles) – dull, aching, poorly localised
pain ● visceral pain (organs, viscera) – cramping pain, varying localisation, associated
with referred pain and autonomic stimulation. ➤ Neuropathic: due to dysfunction of the nervous system.
