ABSTRACT

This chapter presents different possibilities for connection and patterning of the two faces for both solid and spacer multi-bar fabrics. The real advantages of double face fabrics is the possibility for combinations of different patterns and different materials in one sample. Except the front and back faces, there is a third “face” - the middle area in the spacer fabrics, which is remains hidden for the end user, but is very important for the engineers. Using jacquard bars allows production of fabrics with different colour effects, structures, connections and becomes widely used for production of fabrics for shoes, or pre-made components of clothing and textiles during the actual knitting process. In the case of almost parallel connecting yarns one larger distance between the needle bars leads to spacer fabrics. The rule from single face fabrics has to be applied with understanding the guide bar orientation.
