ABSTRACT

This chapter presents some possibilities for the development of warp knitted structures with the software TexMind Warp Knitting Editor 3D. In 2014 TexMind launched a small and simple program, mainly designed for students and for preparation of the simulation data - TexMind Pattern Painter. The 3D Version - TexMind Warp Knitting Editor 3D was officially launched as pre-release in 2018, but used in various research and development projects for industrial and academic partners since 2016. Creative designers have different work-flows than the textile engineers - they try to create new samples without limitation of some certain machines and they need to add different guides “on the fly”. Building a 3D representation of warp knitted fabrics is a complex modelling procedure, for which several data about the yarn properties, yarn tension during the knitting, and eventual finishings of the fabrics are required.
