ABSTRACT

ABSTRACT: Cornering stiffness is an important vehicle parameter for the steering control of a vehicle. Vehicle parameters need to be accurately determined for the high-performance control of a vehicle because vehicle control is affected by variations in vehicle parameters. In this study, a novel identification method is proposed using a dual Kalman filter algorithm and a Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) sensor to estimate the cornering stiffness for on-board identification. Performance of the identification method is examined in experiments, with estimation results showing that the identification method is effective in any initial conditions.
