ABSTRACT

Ectoparasites The most important ectoparasites to affect the ears of dogs and cats are discussed in Chapter 3. In the cat, Otodectes cynotis accounts for up to 80% of all cases of otitis externa. Otodectic acariasis is a less common cause of otitis externa in the dog, perhaps because of the widespread use of potent systemic acaricidal spot-on medications.
