ABSTRACT
IT CAREERS The textbook ends where it began: by examining IT careers and careers related to the IT field. In this chapter, the various areas of IT are examined with an emphasis on the specific roles that each area requires. Among the details shared are forms of certifications that an IT person might seek and recent salaries. As students of IT may have not given a great deal of thought to their careers as they start college, the text describes a variety of topics that may extend the reader’s interest. These include topics such as IT ethics as well as social concerns in the digital world such as the digital divide, Internet censorship, and Internet addiction. The chapter ends by discussing various forms of continuing education for the IT person.
