Following reflection of a suitable flap, the operative field can be visualized. Root end surgery is probably the most common surgical endodontic procedure.
Following reflection of the flap, the location of the root tip is estimated. If the tooth has been associated with a large periapical lesion, the cortical plate will often have been perforated (Figures 10.1, 10.2).
