ABSTRACT

One such recent effort is the WHO classification. The initial version was produced following a meeting in Lyon, France, in November 2000 of a group of worldwide leukemia specialists and pathologists. The principal difference from the FAB classification was that while retaining most of the former’s features, the WHO version was able to incorporate many of the more recent recognized prognostic and predictive features. This WHO classification was updated in 2008 and we discuss this below.
