Anesthesia for surgical treatment of twin–twin transfusion syndrome A Cristina Rossi and Marc A Kaufman

Anesthesia for fetal surgery is unique in that it involves two patients, the mother and the fetus. Care of both of these patients must be considered during the perioperative period. For all fetal surgery some basic anesthetic objectives apply. They include maternal safety, avoidance of teratogenic agents, avoidance of fetal asphyxia, adequate fetal anesthesia, and monitoring for and prevention of preterm labor.
