ABSTRACT
The global consumption of petroleum to make gasoline and diesel fuel for motor vehicles is not sustainable. If the developing world were to even approach our per capita oil consumption habits, the stress on the environment and the world energy security threats would be overwhelming. Even without these environmental and energy security concerns, the world would not be able to continue our voracious consumption of nonrenewable fossil fuels.
