ABSTRACT

Generally speaking, radical hysterectomy is the cornerstone of cervical cancer and selected stage II endometrial cancer cases. This specialized procedure consists of retroperitoneal lymphadenectomy and en bloc removal of the uterus, as well as the removal of the parametria, paracolpium, and the upper part of the vagina. The procedure is made up of a number of steps, making it comparatively complicated. Precise manipulation of instruments is required as we need to expose the vasculature, urinary tract, and the bowel. Comprehension of pelvic retroperitoneal anatomy is of paramount importance to proceed with the operation in a manner that ensures safety and completeness.
