ABSTRACT

The ultimate goal of decommissioning projects is the assurance that future site or building uses will not result in unreasonable risk to human health and the environment due to residual contamination from past operations. is goal is achieved through the remediation, if necessary, of the facility/site, and then demonstrated by performing an FSS which shows that the appropriate radiological release criteria have been achieved. e MARSSIM oers Federal agency consensus guidance on how to design and perform FSSs for radiological contamination. e MARSSIM approach is fundamentally based on the DQO process.
