ABSTRACT

Load distribution in bridge superstructures is used as a synonym for structural analysis of a bridge superstructure. It involves determination of load effects in the bridge deck and the supporting beams/girders, which are required for design purposes. These load effects, such as shear, bending moment, and de¢ection, are caused by dead and live loads applied to the bridge superstructure, the effects of which can be determined based on the principles of structural mechanics and load path considerations.
