ABSTRACT
What is design transfer? When design controls first made their appearance, many people looked at the section concerning design transfer and pointed to it as proof of the bureaucratic nature of the new regulation. What else would you do with a newly developed product but transfer it to production? The problem is that it’s not what you do at this point in the development process but how-and sometimes even when-you do it. The purpose of the design transfer phase is to make sure design outputs are adequately and correctly translated into production specifications.
