ABSTRACT

This chapter will deal with the possibilities of changing the dynamic properties of vehicles through electronic means. In particular, the idea that the stability of a vehicle can be enhanced by active control means will be discussed. The previous chapters have all concentrated mainly on analyzing the inherent stability properties of a number of types of vehicles. By the term inherent stability, we mean the ability of the vehicle to return to a basic motion after a disturbance without the aid of a human operator or an automatic control system.
