AsreportedbyHabberley[7],theoperationswhichdemandthetightestgeometricaltolerancesarethose whichoccurduringtheDWI,welding,andprintingprocesses.
DWIprocess-ThelengthofthecanwallobtainedbytheDWIprocessisheavilydependentonthe blankvolume,andmoreparticular,onthecombinationofblankthicknessandblankdiameter.Asshown inFig.2.3,anincreaseintheblankthicknesswouldrequireasmallerblankdiameter.Thereishowever,a certaincombinationoftheblankdiameterandthicknessatwhichrelativematerialcostisminimum. Itis,therefore,desirabletomaintainthethicknesstolerancesastightaspossiblesothattheminimumcost canbeassured.
