Chatterisaphenomenonthatoccursduringtherollingofstripandcausestheappearanceoflightand darklinesacrossthewidthoftherolledstrip.Theremayormaynotbeagaugevariationassociatedwith thesemarkedlines[8,9].Theprincipalmodesofchatterthatmostfrequentlyoccurincoldmillsarethe torsionalandverticalmodeswhicharedescribedinthefollowingsections.
