ABSTRACT

I t will be very clear to anyone reading this chapter that I do not see board games and video games as being on the same level in terms of game design . Th at is to say, board games are largely doing a very solid job of fulfi lling their potential, and video games are doing an awful job of fulfi lling theirs . Th is evaluation doesn’t come from a personal bias: if anything, I would be biased in favor of video games, since like many of my generation I was raised with them and have great aff ection for many of the classic video games .
