ABSTRACT
In this chapter, I will describe a few techniques from prescriptive decision analysis,1 a subject that is part of prescriptive analytics. As I discussed in Chapter 1, the larger subject of prescriptive analytics pertains to the use of data to inform action. Within that space, prescriptive decision analysis provides models to connect the world of decision making with the realm of data. It’s an essential topic for analysts who want their work to influence decisions made by real people.
