ABSTRACT
Improper welding practices in choosing welding schedules, electrodes and welder, etc., may create discontinuities in a weldment in various forms. Some of them have merely a cosmetic effect, whereas others may be detrimental to the structural integrity of welds or welded structures. This chapter discusses the commonly observed discontinuities, their formation mechanisms, and possible means to suppress their occurrence.
