These ancient domestic pigs lived communally with humans, like a guest sharing food with his host. Ancient authors wrote about the voracious appetite of these unusual beasts.
Pigs were mostly used for food, but people also used their hides to make shields and shoes, their bones for tools and weapons, and their bristles for brushes.
