ABSTRACT

Nonwoven fabrics are produced primarily from fibers, and woven, knitted, braided, laced, or tufted fabrics are produced primarily from yarns. The term nonwoven is a misnomer, and in spite of many attempts at precisely defining the exact nature and domain of this class of products, ambiguity continues to prevail. This is also partly fueled by the ever-expanding scope of the cluster of technologies broadly grouped under this class of fabricformation system.
