ABSTRACT

Yarn produced either during spinning of staple fibers or during extrusion of filaments from polymeric materials needs to be wound into a suitable package form. Such a process of winding is not the focus of this chapter. The technology of suitably rewinding packages already formed during the spinning process-such as a ring bobbin as shown in Figure 3.1-into packages-such as a cone as shown in Figure 3.2-of desirable shape, build, and quality that would be compatible with the subsequent processes is going to be addressed in the following.
