Important areas of research in medical genetic engineering include vaccine production, pharmaceutical development, and the treatment of disease, most especially cancer.
Genetic engineering in agriculture is involved in the genetic modication of crops and domestic animals to increase their yield, ease of production, and nutrition. Genetically modied food ranges from seedless vegetables to increasing the nutritional value of crops, particularly for nutrition-poor populations.
