ABSTRACT

Most turfgrass diseases are caused by pathogenic fungi that invade leaves, stems, and roots of plants. Plant parasitic nematodes are known to cause serious damage to turfgrasses in the southeastern United States, but are not as problematic in the northern regions where cool-season grasses are grown. In cool-season grasses, parasitic nematodes are most troublesome in golf greens, especially those that consist mainly of annual bluegrass (Poa annua L.). There are very few recorded bacterial or viral diseases of turf.
